Extensive reading has become a new reading approach that is promoted by some schools and even Indonesian government to improve students rsquo literacy and develop their reading habits. Related to this issue some universities have already required extensive reading course for their students. This research aims to find out how the ER lecturers from different universities manage an extensive reading course in their EFL classrooms. The data collected through interview observation questionnaire and document checking are presented quantitatively and analyzed qualitatively. The data of ER practices obtained from the instruments are analyzed based on the criteria of good extensive reading rubric adapted from some experts to determine the lecturers rsquo level of ER program and describing students rsquo perception towards the program. The finding of this study showed that the ER activities used by the two lecturers are mostly sustained silent reading with some touch of task-based teaching with the use of summary and reading log. The reading materials used in the program are also pretty varied since both lecturers gave full authority for the students to choose their own reading materials. Based on the facts above according to the criteria of good extensive reading programs the ER practices of both lecturers are already in the level of good implementation of an extensive reading program. As this research also intended to know the students rsquo perception towards the program it is found that almost all students feel the improvement in their language skill. The data showed that students think the program helped them in improving their vocabulary develop reading habit as well as improving writing competence including oral skill and increased their motivation. In addition almost 70% of the students agreed that they would maintain their reading habit even after the program is over. It means the students showed a positive attitude toward the program since this program help them in developing reading habit and increasing motivation in reading. Finally it can be concluded that so far the extensive reading practices of the lecturers are considered good extensive reading with appropriate reading materials and follow-up activities. The students also showed positive attitude toward the program. It is therefore suggested for the English Department administrators to gives full support in providing varied reading materials. For the EFL lecturers they may help the students find appropriate reading materials in digital platform such as Xreading and Mreader. And for the future researcher since research in the area of extensive reading strategy is still limited and still progressive it is suggested to conduct deeper study focusing on ER strategy
