Abstract
This study aims to find out what are the advantages and disadvantages of the Teaching Assistance (Asistensi Mengajar) program followed by German Department students at Universitas Negeri Malang. Teaching Assistance, which is one of the programs from Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) has been launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture since 2020. The data collection was carried out using a strategy of distributing questionnaires to research respondents followed by in-depth interviews. The sample for this study was 14 students who had undergone the Teaching Assistance program. The results of the study indicate that there are several advantages of this program, among others, students gain experience in the world of work. However, because this program has just been rolled out, there are some shortcomings that are still encountered, such as there is no requirement that students have taken certain courses as a provision for them to teach.
