Abstract

2013. Relationship Between Teaching Facilities and Professional Competence of Teacher Novita Lita toward the Learning Achievement in Civics of Seventh Grade Students SMPN 1 Batu. Thesis Department of Law and Civics Faculty of Social Sciences State University of Malang. Advisors (1) Dra. Arbaiyah Prantiasih M.Si (II) Siti Awaliyah S.Pd M. Hum. Keywords Facilities Teaching Professional Competence of Teacher Learning Achievement Teaching facilities or infrastructure of provided by schools with the teachers professionalism on student learning outcomes are closely linked as a teacher and the school have a huge responsibility for the development and the results to be obtained by the students at SMPN 1 Batu. The purposes of this research were (1) to identify the learning facilities are used for teaching Civics at SMPN 1 Batu (2) to identify the professional competence of Civics teacher at SMPN 1 Batu (3) to identify the student achievement in Civics subject in SMPN 1 Batu (4) to identify the relationship between teaching facility and academic achievement (5) to identify the relationship of the professional competence of teachers toward the students learning achievement. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 Batu. The study design employed was Descriptive Correlational. The population of this research reached 229 students from the whole VII A-VII H classes of SMPN 1 Batu class for academic year 2011/2012. The sampling techniques used was proportional random sampling technique engaged through part of whole population of 169 students with a sample number reached 55 students of class VII A-VII F. Meanwhile the data collection techniques used were questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis employed was descriptive analysis to describe the teaching facilities professional competence of teachers and student achievement. In other hand multiple regression analysis used to determine the relationship between teaching facilities and professional competence of teachers toward student achievement in Civics subject. The results obtained through descriptive analysis of yielded the research results as follows (a) the teaching facilities variable is in good condition proved by the 40% of respondents said good 34.50% said excellent 20% of respondents stated they were quite good while 5.50% of respondents said poor (B) the teacher professional competence variable is good proved by the 44% of respondents said good 40% said excellent 14% of respondents stated they were quite good while 2% said poor (C) the academic achievement variable is declared finished well proved by the 53% of the students 29 out of 55 respondents exceed the examination score of 75-90 which classified as good 47% means 26 students from 55 respondents significantly to the value of 60 -74 classified as quite good. Meanwhile using the multiple linear analysis level 5% known that there is a significant positive relationship between teaching facilities and professional competence of teachers toward the student achievement in Civics with r count is equal to 0.555 with a significance of 0.000.
