Supervisor (I) Yuliati Hotifah S.Psi M.Pd (II) Dr. Carolina Ligya Radjah M.Kes Keywords self monitoring off task behavior high school students Off-task behavior is undesirable behavior when implementing teaching and learning in the classroom such as speaking outside the subject matter playing mobile phones sleeping. Students in the school are expected to be able to focus and pay attention and understand the explanations given by the teacher. But in reality there are still many students who carry out off-task behavior as a result students cannot understand the material that has been delivered by the teacher so that the impact of students experiences a decrease in learning outcomes and results in not going up to class. Off-task behavior not only harms oneself but also can harm friends around. The role of the guidance and counseling teacher is to help students reduce off-task behavior so as not to have an adverse effect on themselves and others. The study aims to determine the effectiveness of self monitoring techniques to reduce the behavior of students off-task learning in high school. The research design used was Single Case Experimental Design (SCED) with the A-B model with the research subject of 10 Malang Senior High School students in class X IPS 4 with a population of 32 students and a sample of 5 students. Taking students as the subject of research is done by direct observation and interviews with counselors and subject teachers then given treatment. From the results of data analysis changes in off-task behavior become on-task behavior varies between subjects Ar subject Ivn subject Frhn Subject Mrna and subject Rf. Of the five research subjects the decline in off-task behavior was not less than 50% both duration and frequency data the interpretation of the results of the study using behavioral change criteria was declared successful if students off-task behavior was reduced not less than 50%. Based on this it can be concluded that the self monitoring technique is effective for reducing off task behavior in high school students. Based on the results of the study suggestions were proposed which need to be considered by the next counselor and researcher. Counselors can use self monitoring techniques to reduce off-task behavior because their effectiveness has been proven. Researchers currently use single case experimental design so that the data obtained is subjective or not comprehensive because the research subjects only use samples from the class population for future researchers if you want to find objective data can use a research design other than Single Case Experimental Design.
