ABSTRAK Suroso Priyo. 2017. Diagnosis Kesulitan Siswa SMPN 2 Bendungan dalam Menyelesaikan Masalah Operasi Pecahan Aljabar dan Scaffoldingnya. Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Malang. Pembimbing (I) Dr. Subanji M.Si (II) Dr. Sisworo M.Si Kata Kunci kesulitan belajar operasi pecahan aljabar scaffolding. Pecahan aljabar dan operasinyamerupakanmateri pembelajaran yang sulit. Banyak siswa yang mengakui bahwa mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam mempelajari operasi pecahan aljabar. Hasil belajar siswa terhadap materi operasi pecahan aljabar rata-rata masih rendah. Bentuk kesulitan hasil belajar operasi pecahan aljabar yang rendah tersebut perlu ditelusuri. Salah satu cara menelusu-rinya adalah menggunakan mathematical mapping. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui (1) bentuk kesulitansiswadalammenyelesaikanoperasipecahanaljabardan (2) bentukscaffolding yang dapatmengatasikesulitansiswadalammenyelesaikanoperasipecahanaljabar. Penelitianinimenggunakanpendekatankualitatif. Jenispenelitianiniada-lahpenelitiandeskriptifkualitatifkarenapenelitianinimendeskripsikan proses. Dalampenelitianini pelaksanaan diagnosis menggunakantesdiagnostik.Sedang-kan proses scaffoldinguntuk mengatasi kesulitan siswa berupaintervensi terbatas yang dilakukanpenelititerhadapsubjekpenelitiansecara individual. Dalam mengumpulkan data peneliti menggunakan tes wawancara dan catatan di lapangan. Dalam penelitian ini triangulasi sumber data dan metode pengambilan data diterapkan untuk mengecek keabsahan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk kesulitan siswa dalam menye-lesaikan masalah operasi pecahan aljabar meliputi a) tidak memahami urutan penyelesaian operasi pada bentuk aljabar b)tidak membalik pembagi pada perkalian pecahan aljabar c) kurang teliti dan salah konsep dalam perkalian penjumlahan serta pengurangan aljabar d) terpaku pada rumus yang dihafalkan sehingga tidak dapat menyelesaikan soal bentuk lain e) pemahaman konsep KPK tidak utuh serta f) kesalahan dalam memfaktorkan dan menyederhakan aljabar. Bentuk scaffolding yang dapat mengatasi kesulitan siswa tersebut meliputi a)explaining denganmengajukanpertanyaanarahanuntuk mengatasi kesulitan dalamhirarki operasi kesalahan konsep penjumlahan dan penyederhanaan aljabar serta KPK b) explaining dengan memintasubjekmenuliskan di kertastentangpemahamannyadalammemfaktorkan serta menyamakan penyebut c) reviewingdengan memintasubjekuntukmengerjakankembalisoal yang sama karena kekurangtelitian subjek d) reviewingdenganmemintasubjekuntukmemperbaikipekerjaannya karena tidak menyelesaikannya e) reviewing denganmelakukanrefleksipadahasilpenyelesaiantesmulaidariawal untukmengatasi kesulitan pemfaktoran serta f) restructuring denganmengajukanpertanyaanarahanhinggasubjekdapatmenemukankembalifakta yang adapadamasalah untuk mengatasi kesalahan konsep perkalian aljabar. Algebraicfractionand their operations are difficult learning materials. Many students have admitted that they have difficulty in studying the operations of algebraic fractions. Students learning outcomes on algebraic materials are still low. The difficult form of learning results of these low algebraic operations should be explored. One way to trace it is to use mathematical mapping. The purpose of this research is to know (1) the form of student s difficulties in completing the operation of algebraic fractions and (2) the form of scaffolding that can overcome the students difficulties in completing the operation of algebraicfractions. This research uses qualitative approach. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research because this research describes the process. In this study the diagnostic process was performed with a diagnostic test. While the process of scaffolding in the form of limited interventions conducted by researchers on the subject of research individually. In collecting data researchers use tests interviews and notes in the field. In this study triangulation of data sources and data retrieval methods are applied to check the validity of data. The result of the research indicates that the students difficulties in solving the operationsof algebraic fractions problems include a) not understanding the order of operations on algebraic expression b) not inverting the divisors on algebraic fractions c) lacking accuracy and misconceptions in multiplication addition and subtraction algebra d) fixated on the memorized formula so that it can not solve the problem of other expression e) understanding the concept of LCD is not intact and f) errors in factoring and simplifying algebra. The forms of scaffolding that can overcome the student s difficulties include a) explaining by asking a directive question to overcome difficulties in the order of operation misconceptions of addition and simplification of algebra andLCD b) explaining by asking the subject to write on paper about his understanding in facting and likening the denominator c) reviewing by asking the subject to rework the same problem due to overcome of accuracylacking d) reviewing by asking the subject to improve his work for not completing it e) reviewing by reflecting on the completion of the test starting from the beginning to overcome the difficulties of factoring and f) restructuring by asking a directive question until the subject can rediscover the facts that exist on the issue to address the misconceptions of algebraic multiplication concepts.
