ABSTRAK Pa is 2009 Peningkatan Penguasaan Konsep Volume Bangun Ruang dengan Metode Penemuan Terbimbing Berkelompok di MTs. Darussa adah Gubugklakah Kec. Poncokusumo Kab. Malang. Purwanto Ph.D. Kata Kunci Volume Bangun Ruang Penemuan Terbimbing Berkelompok Volume bangun ruang mempunyai peranan penting dalam bidang matematika dan banyak digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Oleh sebab itu penguasaan terhadap volume bangun ruang perlu ditekankan pada siswa sejak dini. Meskipun demikian kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa penguasaan siswa terhadap volume bangun ruang masih rendah. Siswa cenderung menghafal rumus volume bangun ruang. Siswa tidak diberi kesempatan untuk menemukan sendiri rumus volume bangun ruang. Oleh karena itu diperlukan usaha yang serius dalam membangun penguasaan siswa terhadap volume bangun ruang dengan metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menjelaskan pembelajaran dengan metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok yang dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep volume bangun ruang (2) menjelaskan peningkatan hasil belajar siswa pada konsep volume bangun ruang melalui pembelajaran metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok dan (3) mengetahui respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok pada konsep volume bangun ruang bagi siswa kelas VIII MTs Darussa adah Gubugklakah Kec. Poncokusumo Kab. Malang tahun pelajaran 2008/2009. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIII MTs Darussa adah Gubugklakah Kec. Poncokusumo Kab. Malang. Subyek wawancara 4 siswa yang terdiri dari 1 siswa berkemampuan tinggi 2 siswa berkemampuan sedang dan 1 siswa berkemampuan rendah. Pemilihan subyek wawancara berdasarkan hasil tes awal dan pertimbangan bahwa siswa-siswa tersebut mudah diajak komunikasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok yang dapat meningkatkan penguasaan volume bangun ruang pada siswa kelas VIII MTs Darussa adah Gubugklakah Kec. Poncokusumo Kab. Malang terbagi dalam tiga tahap pembelajaran yaitu (1) tahap awal meliputi menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran memotivasi siswa tentang pentingnya volume bangun ruang mengingatkan kembali materi prasyarat pembentukan kelompok dan pemberian alat peraga (2) tahap inti meliputi pelaksanaan investigasi oleh kelompok dan presentasi hasil diskusi dan (3) tahap akhir meliputi membuat kesimpulan dan evaluasi. Respon siswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok pada materi volume bangun ruang sangat positif. Berdasarkan penelitian ini maka bagi peneliti lain yang berminat mengadakan penelitian serupa hendaknya melakukan pada sekolah yang lain sehingga akan diperoleh gambaran lebih lanjut mengenai efektifitas pembelajaran dengan metode penemuan terbimbing berkelompok pada materi volume bangun ruang. Purwanto Ph.D. Key words Solid Volume Group Guided Discovery Solid volume has an important role in mathematics and has been used a lot in daily life. Therefore mastery for solid volume needs to be emphasized to students since at the early age. However the fact shows that students mastery for this subject is low. Students tend to merely memorize the solid volume formulas. Students are not given opportunity to find by themselves those formulas. Consequently the serious efforts are needed to build students mastery for this subject by group guided discovery. This Study aims at (1) explaining instruction by method of group guided discovery can be used to improve the mastery for the concept of solid volume (2) explaining improve students result of learning for the concept of solid volume through group guided discovery and (3) finding out students responds for method of group guided discovery for the concept of solid volume for eighth grade students of MTs. Darussa adah Gubugklakah Poncokusumo Subdistrict Malang Regency. This study employs a qualitative approach with classroom action research design. It is conducted to eighth grade students of MTs. Darussa adah Gubugklakah Poncokusumo Subdistrict Malang Regency. The subjects of interview are 4 students consisting of 1 student has high ability 2 students have medium ability and 1 of them has low ability. The choice of interview is based on the pretest and the consideration that those students are easy to be invited to have communication. Based on findings it is found that the method of group guided discovery can be used to improve the mastery for solid volume for eighth grade students of MTs. Darussa adah Gubugklakah Poncokusumo Subdistrict Malang Regency which is divided into three stages of instruction (1) initial stage consists of delivering aims of instruction motivating students about the importance of solid volume recalling the requirement materials building the groups and giving visual aids (2) main stage consists of conducting investigation by group and doing discussion result presentation and (3) final stage consists of making conclusion and evaluation. Students responds for instruction implementing method of group guided discovery for solid volume materials is very positive. For other researchers who want to arrange some study its better do in other school so will gotten more continued description about instruction activity by improving mastery for the concept of Solid Volume by Method of Group Guided Discovery.
