Oliver Twist directed by Roman Polanski is a story of an orphan boy whose rights are violated. He faces many problems concerning his rights as a child. Because the problems finally end this study has also the purpose of finding out the solutions about the problems that this film suggests. This study finds that Oliver undergoes problems of lack of food child abuse and missing chances to reach his fullest potential of development. The lack of food is caused by his caregivers who try to make orphan children under their care weak physically in order that they would not rebel against them. Oliver also undergoes physical and emotional abuses including child exploitation. Another problem concerning his rights of a child is missing chances to reach his fullest potential of development. It also finds that there are solutions this film suggests to deal with the problems. Providing Oliver enough food solves his problem of lack of food. Protecting him from abuses directly and indirectly is the way to solve his problem of child abuse. To let him get chances to reach his fullest potential is the way to overcome his problem of missing them. From these findings there are suggestions to make the child rights respected better and let children live in better ways. It is suggested that we should not do child abuses. We should prevent cruelties toward children and protect them from forms of abuses. We should also be always concerned about the rights of children.
