(II) Dr. Utari Praba Astuti M.A. Keywords Watching English movies Indonesian subtitles vocabulary mastery eleventh graders students. Vocabulary has a crucial role in learning a language especially in improving the four skills listening speaking reading and writing. Since vocabulary learning does not state explicitly in Curriculum 2013 there is no activity arranged special for learning vocabulary in the class. The students should do some activities to improve their vocabulary. Watching English movie is an enjoyable source of entertainment which has contextual clues that help students to learn more English words. The more students interact with English the more they are familiar with the English vocabulary. The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between the frequency of watching English movies with Indonesian subtitles and students vocabulary mastery. This study was conducted in SMA Negeri 7 Malang. This study used clustered random sampling as the sampling technique. The sample of this study was chosen from the existing eleventh grade classes of SMA Negeri 7 Malang. There are seven classes with the total numbers of the sample are 181 students. The data were collected using two instruments questionnaire and vocabulary test. The data sources of this study gained from the score of both instruments. The questionnaire was used to know the frequency the students watch English movies with Indonesian subtitles and vocabulary test was used to know the students vocabulary mastery. The instruments had already tried out in order to know the length of time for students to answer. The result of this study shows that there is a positive correlation between the frequency of watching English movies with Indonesian subtitles and students vocabulary mastery with .000 as the significant value. The coefficient correlation value of both variables is .715 which could be interpreted as high or strong correlation. Based on the result it can be concluded that there is a significant positive high correlation between frequency of watching English movies with Indonesian subtitles and students vocabulary mastery. It means that the students who watch English movies with Indonesian subtitles frequently have high vocabulary mastery. The result of this research hopefully gives a theoretical contribution to the English teacher in SMA Negeri 7 Malang to use English movies with Indonesian subtitles as the comprehensible input or media to enhance students vocabulary mastery. However for the future researcher who wants to conduct the same study increasing the sample size can be done in order to have a better result and make sure that the instruments used are valid and reliable enough to be conducted. It is better if the researcher uses parametric test to do hypothesis testing in order to get the more accurate result and the population estimation also will be wider and general.
