Abstract

Keywords reading comprehension source of learn news elementary school Reading comprehension in the context of learning by reading in elementary school is a type of reading which purpose to comprehend the texts which comprise of hint long-text and various of belleslettres for children which consist of poetries fairy tales traditional poetries conversations stories and dramas. According to the observation and interview results that many pupils have difficulty on the reading comprehension so that the ability of reading comprehension are lowgrade. The research objective is aimed to describe (1) The ability of reading comprehension of the fifth grade pupils of before using news as source of learn (2) The use of news as source of learn on the reading comprehension subject (3) ability increasing in the reading comprehension with using news as source of learn. The researcher uses PTK as plan of research. The research subject is fifth grade pupils at State Elementary School of Merjosari 5 of Malang which amount to 34 pupils. The research location is at State Elementary School of Merjosari 5 subdistrict Lowokwaru of Malang. Data collection technique are observation interview documentation and test. Data analysis uses qualitative descriptive. The results research indicates that (1) reading comprehension ability of the fifth grade pupils at state elementary school of Merjosari 5 of Malang before using news as source of learn are lowgrade (2) the implementation of news as source of learn could improve the ability of the pupils to reading comprehension and situation of learning could be more gratify (3) reading comprehension ability of the pupils with using news as source of learn could be increase which from average value 74 6 on the first cycle and 87 8 on the second cycle. The completeness of classical learning on the first cycle is 67% and 100% on the second cycle. The researcher suggests to (1) the teachers ought to use a variety of source of learn to improve yield of learn and activities of the pupils in the class while extend the subject matter to the pupils (2) another researchers could use these results research as reference of next research.
